Benefits
Together, Life Coaching and Bowen Therapy can provide a powerful and effective way to address your physical and emotional health during menopause.
Here are some of the benefits of combining Life Coaching and Bowen Therapy:
A 2015 study published in the journal Menopause found that ‘Bowen Therapy effectively reduced the severity and frequency of hot flashes in women going through menopause.’
In addition to reducing menopausal symptoms, Bowen Therapy can help improve overall well-being. A 2017 study published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that’ Bowen Therapy effectively enhanced sleep quality, energy levels, and mood in women going through menopause.’
If you are considering Bowen Therapy for menopausal symptoms, please acknowledge it is not a replacement for medical treatment. It is, however, a beneficial complementary therapy.
Here are some of the potential benefits of Bowen Therapy for women experiencing menopause:
• Reduces hot flashes and night sweats
• Improves mood
• Improves sleep quality
• Increases energy levels
• Improves overall well-being
Calming the Nervous System During Menopause
During menopause, it is important to calm the nervous system. This is because the nervous system controls the production of cortisol, a stress hormone that can put a strain on the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are responsible for producing cortisol, and they can become overworked during menopause.
Bowen Therapy is a gentle, effective therapy that can help to calm the nervous system. The therapist uses a series of soft tissue releases to create a connective tissue disturbance over specified body areas. This disturbance helps to reset the nervous system and reduce stress levels.
The Bowen Therapist uses very light pressure, described as "eyeball pressure." This means that the pressure is so light that it feels like the therapist is just rolling the skin over the connective tissue. The moves are made deliberately, working with the flow of the client's breath. The technique can be done through light clothing; no oil is required.
Why Does Bowen Therapy Include Waiting Times?
Bowen Therapy is a gentle, effective therapy that can help to improve a variety of health conditions. One of the unique aspects of Bowen Therapy is that the therapist includes short breaks of approximately two minutes (this varies from person to person) between each set of moves. These waiting times are called "therapeutic pauses."
There are a few reasons why Bowen Therapy includes waiting times. First, the therapeutic pauses allow the body time to adjust to the changes that have been made. This is important because Bowen Therapy works by stimulating the body's natural healing mechanisms. The waiting times give the body time to start the healing process.
Second, the therapeutic pauses allow the client to become more aware of their body. This is because the client is not distracted by the therapist's movements. The waiting times give the client time to focus on their own sensations and how they are feeling.
Third, the therapeutic pauses allow the therapist to assess the client's progress. The therapist can observe how the client is responding to the treatment and make adjustments as needed.
Therapeutic Pauses and Results
Therapeutic pauses are an important part of Bowen Therapy. They allow the body time to adjust to the changes that have been made, allow the client to become more aware of their body, and allow the therapist to assess the client's progress. As a result, Bowen Therapy can often produce rapid results. Most clients report significant improvement or even resolution in two or three treatments. It is not uncommon for clients to experience changes in unrelated areas, such as digestion, energy, or old injuries.
